Their journey
Tom Ballard was 30 years old. He was the son of Alison Hargreaves and became known for climbing the six great north faces of the Alps in winter. He and Daniele Nardi set out on Nanga Parbat on 22 February 2019 and last made contact on 24 February at about 6,300 metres. A search followed, and on 9 March their bodies were seen through a telescope on the Mummery Rib.
Their love for travel
He grew up in the mountains and chose hard winter routes, climbing alongside the memory of his mother.
